Travel Information
Hotel
Notacon will take place from Friday, April 7th through Sunday, April 9th, 2005 at the Holiday Inn Select Cleveland - City Center Lakeshore located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.
Hotel address:Holiday Inn Select City Centre
1111 Lakeside Avenue
Cleveland, OH 44114
The initial blocking for Notacon is 60 rooms and is good through March 23, 2006. After that, rooms in the block may be issued to others on an as-needed basis. Please book your room early to make sure you can take advantage of this low rate! Booking outside of the block will result in a much higher cost, so please plan accordingly. Both smoking and non-smoking rooms are available. Single bed rooms have a capacity of 2 people, while the capacity of rooms with two beds is up to 5 people.
The Holiday Inn, again, has been kind enough to provide us with an extraordinarily competitive rate of $75 per night for our block of rooms as well as reduced parking at a rate of $5 per day. Contrary to whatever their webpage may say, our contract states (and I have confirmed with the hotel) a rate of $5 per day. The conference price extends from April 5 to April 10.
Please note, the $5 parking rate is for attendees with hotel rooms only. The non-room parking rate is $14 per day.
To book your room on line please use this link and under "Group Booking Code" use "NTN" for this event. You may, alternatively, book rooms by calling 1-800-HOLIDAY. Again, be sure to give them your booking code.
Logistics and Travel
Getting to the hotel and the Cleveland area is very easy. The hotel is:

- Within a short walk of the RTA train which comes straight in from the airport (Please exit at the North Coast station)
- Within a short walk of the Cleveland Greyhound station (or a very inexpensive cab ride...we'd suggest the cab)
- Located right off of Ohio Rte. 2, which can be accessed by I-90
- A short drive through downtown from I-90
City Transportation: RTA Fares and Schedules
Parking: Parking at the hotel is $5 per day if you reserve a room or $14 per day without a room.
Locals are also encouraged to locate additional "cheap" parking near the hotel, if they desire. The Cleveland Municipal lot is a short walk to the hotel. It is rumored that the lot is $2.50 per day, and the North Point parking garage located nearby is approximately $9.00 per day. Check rates before parking. These rates are estimates based on experience. If a special event is in town, these rates will be different.
Directions
Getting to the hotel from the airport
- To take the RTA train: Take the Red Line from the aiport to Tower City. Exit the train at Tower city and from there, pick up the Waterfront line to the North Coast station. From there it is a somewhat short walk to the hotel. This will cost about $3.
- Take a cab.
- The hotel will provide limousine service for a charge of $10 to and from the airport. Please call them for more information at (800) 470-3431.
Coming from the East on I-90
Take I-90 west to downtown, stay in the right lines and merge onto Route 2. Stay on Route 2 about a mile or so to the East 9th exit. Go south on East 9th until you get to Lakeside (just over the bridge). Turn left on Lakeside. The hotel will be the second building on the left (first street/driveway). The garage is in the back.
Coming from the West on I-90 and South on I-71
Follow until you reach the East 9th street exit. Take East 9th north until you get to Lakeside (it will be a mile or two). Turn right on Lakeside (one of the last streets before you take the bridge over to North Harbor and Route 2). The Holiday Inn will be the second building on your left.
Coming from I-77
Follow I-77 north until you reach the city. Take the East 14th street exit (Exit 162B). Follow East 14th north until you reach Lakeside. Turn left on Lakeside. The hotel will be on your right.
Local Travelers
Local travelers are welcome to use the hotel parking garage for a fee of $14 per day. Locals are also encouraged to locate additional "cheap" parking near the hotel, if they desire. The Cleveland Municipal lot is a short walk to the hotel. It is rumored that the lot is $2.50 per day, and the North Point parking garage located nearby is only $9.00 or so per day.
Local travelers are also encouraged to use the RTA and can look at the info and schedules below for Case students as it may be helpful in planning your trip in.
We of course encourage locals wishing to make the most of their experience to considering going in with friends to get a hotel room for the weekend. We assure you it will be worth your time and money and will save you the headaches and difficulties regarding parking and the RTA schedules.
Getting to the Hotel from the Case campus
The easiest and most direct way that doesn't involve a lot of walking is to take the RTA Red Line West to Tower City. Transfer to the Waterfront Line and get off at the North Coast station.
Note that the Rapid runs until about midnight and starts up again at Tower City at around 4 AM. The busses run 24 hours if you happen to miss your train.
Full schedules of all RTA lines can be found on their website.
