“Collaboration creates a solution that’s more than the sum of those parts,” says Angela Harms, today’s speaker spotlight. Her presentation is entitled, “Collaboration. You keep using that word”

Who do you feel would benefit most from your presentation?

Anybody who works with other people, creates with other people, or tries to live with other people.

What one concept or viewpoint would you like Notacon participants to walk away with?

That the delicious experience of real collaboration is actually possible, and worth reaching for.

When did you become interested in hacker culture and hacker conferences?

I dunno. I was born that way? I’m pretty old, but my adult world has always been full of makers & hackers & rebels & creators.

What other passions do you have, besides those covered in your presentation?

I went and asked twitter, which said: “Exploring technologies of compassion: Agile software, Zen, nvc, focusing, unschooling, evolution & emergence. Queer.” Add radical love and DIY sanity, and you have me in a nutshell. There might be a pun there, I think.

What excites you most about Notacon 9?

It’s a bunch of people gathering to explore the things that light them up, without any top-down agenda, without anybody to please. :happy_sigh.

Any final thoughts or statements you’d like to share with the community.

I decided to investigate: is “love can make a difference” just a bunch of words, or is there a way that choosing love changes everything? My talk about collaboration, while about teamwork and people, is also about finding that shimmery strand of love in everything, and tugging on it, to see what amazing beauty falls at your feet. Don’t believe me? Come see!
