Running conferences is a subject near and dear to my own heart.  Thus, I can share Jaime Payne’s pain of trying to actually fund these events.  In her presentation, “How to Market the Morally Broken and Sociologically Depraved: A Guide to Selling Your Local Hacker Conference to the Public” she’ll share her experiences and ways of extrapolating it to your own events and organizations!

Who do you feel would benefit most from your presentation?
Anyone who has ever considered starting a conference, or anyone who wonders how people get money to run conferences, and the generally curious.

What one concept or viewpoint would you like Notacon participants to walk away with?
Be ninja in trying to round up sponsors and don’t give up because of rejection.

When did you become interested in hacker culture and hacker conferences?
Back in high school when I met my husband Christopher. Then I was more intertested in the conferences when he got into the IT field and started going to them.

What other passions do you have, besides those covered in your presentation?
My family and Disney (yeah I’m a dork).

What excites you most about Notacon 9?
Being able to talk and see my husband’s talks! Also networking, meeting new people, and getting new ideas. This is going to be SOOO much fun!

Any final thoughts or statements you’d like to share with the community.
Come to GrrCON in the fall!
