We live in interesting times regarding the hacking of politics and civics. ¬†However, Some Guy’s presentation, “REFACTORING THE REVOLUTION (Occupy as an Agile project)”, is more about using lessons learned during the occupy movement in other areas than on advocacy. ¬†Regardless of your viewpoint, Mr. Bridge’s talk will discuss doing more with less.

Who do you feel would benefit most from your presentation?

Agile team members, anarchists, managers, Barack Obama, other community organizers, revolutionaries, and your mom. Also cops please.

What one concept or viewpoint would you like Notacon participants to walk away with?
The main point of “Refactoring the Revolution!” is that Agile values and principles are fundamentally not about software development. Agile values are human values. Agile principles simply recognize the reality of how people naturally think and work and play. You can use them to build software or to change the world!

When did you become interested in hacker culture and hacker conferences?
I got sucked into alt.hackers and alt.2600 back when Usenet was actually functional. Probably about 1992. My larger introduction to hacker culture was coming to Notacon though! What a great gathering.

What other passions do you have, besides those covered in your presentation?

  • Jodie Foster.
  • Vegetarian food.
  • Good coffee.
  • Margaret Atwood.
  • Cities.

What excites you most about Notacon 9?
Hanging out with creative, motivated, smart people. Eating sushi. Teaching. Learning. Being surprised. Seeing my out-of-town hacker pals. Talking about revolution.

Any final thoughts or statements you’d like to share with the community.
Never miss an opportunity to be wrong! That’s how you learn.
